“I enjoy being a member of VCCJA. My membership has allowed me the opportunity to attend trainings, conferences, and network with other professionals in Virginia. My first year working at Prince William County Criminal Justice Services, I got involved with the VCCJA Fundraising Committee. After a short time on the committee, I became Fundraising Co-Chair. Each year it is always fun to work alongside my Co-Chair, Shakira Harling, and other committee members to come up with new ideas. I have served on the Executive Committee as the Northern Region Representative and am currently the Treasurer. My involvement in VCCJA has given me a chance to be part of an organization where I can make a difference in the criminal justice field.”

“From my first contact with VCCJA when working at DCJS in the late 90s, I was impressed by the dedication of leadership, the desire to move the field forward in Virginia, and the constant push for training for staff in the programs. As I continued my career, I stayed in contact with VCCJA leadership and they remained the most dedicated group of professionals I had encountered. Fortunately, I eventually became a Director of a local program and in that capacity was elected President of VCCJA. I hold that role as one of the most defining moments in my long career. To serve the members in a leadership capacity was an honor I shall always cherish. The support I had from the VCCJA leadership team, the field and many others was more than I could have hoped for or wanted. It once again showed me how dedicated VCCJA leadership and members are in promoting our profession. VCCJA is truly the most professional, dedicated, and talented organization I have belonged to in my career.”
